Alberto Santos Dumont is het zwarte schaap van zijn rijke familie, een eigenzinnige en roekeloze jeugd met zijn hoofd in de wolken. Als volwassene leiden zijn ambities hem naar Parijs, waar hij begint te experimenteren in de ballonvaart, waardoor hij op weg is om een van de meest invloedrijke uitvinders van de moderne tijd te worden.
